[Interference. Signal unstable. Two ALPHA category entities identified: A-001 ("█") and A-006 ("The Old Man"/Babylon). Location: Astral projection, "The Library" zone.]
A-006: Hello. I'm calling about that problem.
A-001: Yes, yes, I'm already in the process of solving it.
A-006: That's good, but... do we really need an audience?
[Pause. Rustling of pages, possibly, or interference.]
A-001: You know about the observer effect?
A-006: Yes, from the information you gave us. It's a theory that states the mere observation of a phenomenon inevitably changes it. But what does that have to do with this?
A-001: It has to do with the fact that without this observation, it's as if we don't exist.
A-006: What does that mean?
A-001: It means our reality is the aggregate of observation by all beings, both inside and outside. Who would have known that what we call "reality" is simply the sum of trillions of gazes? Nothing is real until it is observed. The audience isn't an option. It's the foundation.
A-006: God. Why does almost every conversation we have drift into philosophy and metaphysics?
A-001: Because that is our job, Old Man. We aren't makers of bricks. We are creators of meaning. And meaning without an observer is just noise.
A-006: Alright, enough with the philosophy. But that's not the main thing. The main thing is that we have a quota. Which, I might add, I am already fulfilling.
A-001: Quota? Ah, yes. The quota.
A-006: A quota for what, exactly?
A-001: You see the Time Needle?
[No visual feed, but A-006's tone indicates he "sees" it.]
A-001: It's not just the most important tool in my arsenal. It's what controls the prism of perception. It refracts the gazes of all observers – from the ant to the dragon, from the sleeping peasant to the waking archetype – and gathers them into a single, coherent beam. The beam we call "objective reality." Without it, this world wouldn't be what it is. It would be... a chaotic collection of personal hallucinations that never align.
A-006: We've been working for hundreds of thousands of years. Why does the workload only increase?
A-001: Because the world grows. Complexity demands more attention. More gazes to hold its form. But don't worry.
A-001: Everything will be fine. I understand the human mind isn't designed for such a duration. Even yours, adapted for the Library. But just work for another fifty years or so, and I'll have a big surprise for you.
A-006: I hope it's not more work.
[Connection lost. Recording ends.]

ARCHIVIST'S NOTE (A-006):
Transcript appended to case file A-001. The final phrase raises questions. Over ████████ years of observation, I've learned: when "█" says "surprise," it usually means a radical restructuring of reality. And when "█" says "retirement"... it makes me uneasy.
CLASSIFICATION: ABSOLUTE. ACCESS RESTRICTED TO ALPHA CATEGORY SUBJECTS. ATTEMPTED VIEWING BY BETA CATEGORY SUBJECTS OR LOWER WILL BE CONSIDERED AN ACT OF AGGRESSION AND WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE REALITY CORRECTION.
